Harvard Medical Toxicology Fellowship
The Harvard Medical Toxicology fellowship training program at Children’s Hospital Boston is operated through the hospital’s Emergency Department, in cooperation with Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The toxicology service currently comprises six staff toxicologists, all of whom are jointly appointed by Children’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School.
The fellowship is two years in duration and is available to graduates of ACGME-approved residency programs in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine or Preventative Medicine. One of the many benefits of the fellowship training program is its close relationship with the Regional Center for Poison Control and Prevention, serving Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The Center, which received over 46,000 calls in 2016, provides the administrative facility and primary training site for the fellowship. Fellows participate in toxicology consultations and admissions, daily poison center rounds, didactic seminars, research presentations, literature review, as well as statistical methods/research design and clinical management conferences. The fellow will also have extensive teaching opportunities throughout the hospital and other affiliated institutions. Throughout their tenure, fellows work closely with a diverse and experienced faculty with a range of specialties, including environmental toxicology, epidemiology and bioterrorism preparedness, among others.
A complete application will include:
- A current curriculum vitae (must include months and years)
- A personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation (including one from the Residency Director)
- A copy of the Dean’s letter
- A transcript sent directly from your medical school
